My parents moved to the US from the Philippines in 1973. I was born a few years later in Minnesota. Growing up Filipino, in a predominantly white suburb, with a fully Spanish name created a lot of confusion. I spent a lot of time trying to fit in and meet the expectations of others. Because I didn't feel like I fit in anywhere, I kind of fit in everywhere. I've grown to be confident in the very thing that led to a lot of insecurity growing up. I've learned how to embrace my uniqueness and double down on my identity. I want to use my journey of self-discovery to help others awaken to the power of who they are. I want to use my platform to inspire others to live life to the full and encourage others to bring life to a world that is hungry for hope.
